Okay, I have a question...just looking to get your opinion on something that has been in the back of my mind for a while, but really came to the forefront yesterday. They have Superior Forges in Thorin's Hall right. They have a Superior Workbench in Esteldin right. Having those facilities in those locations makes sense. However, shouldn't there also be Superior Forges and Workbench in Rivendell? I mean it is the elf haven after all. How exactly can they have the whole reforging of Narsil lore in the game and yet not have Superior Forges and whatnot in Rivendell. It just seems like such a contradiction to the lore not to mention a functional piece of the game. For instance, yesterday I was trying to craft some ancient iron armor. I have to use a Superior forge to make it, okay that's understandable. Then I have to make exceptional bindings which require a Superior workbench, that's understandable too. But why do I have to go all the way from Esteldin to Thorin's Hall to do this. (or in my case I was already at Thorin's Hall, so I would have had to gone to Esteldin and then come back to Thorin's Hall) I mean in Rivendell it's the elves...the masters of all crafting since the First Age. They learned from the freaking Valar for crying out loud. Yet they don't have Superior Crafting facilities?

It's a conspircay to keep you in-game, riding around on those stupid horses going back to the same place over and over again...it's just a time sink man, they're just trying to keep a dwarf down brothah...
man I'm starting to sound like Sheridan...

Actually Jim, Smithy in Middle-Earth was from the Dwarves. Narsil was a dwarven blade. (surprising isn't it?) Made by Telchar of Nogrod. www.glyphweb.com/ARDA/n/narsil.html Very vague about it all. There was a big thread about the re-forging of Narsil on the forums that we have to go find a 'jewel' that supposivily was mounted in the Hilt. (thats all Turbine) Even had a dev comment about it which the Lore Monkeys (like me) pounced upon on. They have twisted it a bit to fit the game's story. Now a jewel can mean anything and not just a precious stone is what I gathered from that thread. /shrug

Alright...you are more Tolkien geek than I am. ;D
But still, how can you not have superior crafting facilities of all types in Rivendell?
It just makes sense from a lore perspective and from a game functionality perspective.
It's a needless time sink to me, when there are plenty of others, and a particularly boring one at that.

whoops.. sorry to detour the thread. lol! Yeah I agree. Since the quests in Rivendell are basically higher level than North Downs, It makes sense to have the superior there instead. I think that they think that Esteldin is a 'hub' of sorts. Well just looks like it.

However, I think they should have a second set in Rivendell.

Hopefully, as the world expands into the east, they'll make some superior forges there. It'd be perfectly located.
God, can you imagine having to go from Rohan to Thorins Halls for the forges?

Yes...yes I can...
For the Master Weaponsmithing quest you have to go to Thorin's Hall to pick up the quest which then sends you to the faaaaar eastern edge of the misty mountains for one of the special crafting items you need, then go all the way back to Thorin's to use the Superior Forge to craft it. I got this before level 40 so no swift travel to Rivendell for me....not to mention mining all the ore needed to craft a lvl47 weapon which now sits in my vault taunting me endlessly...

Yes, I can too.
The artisan metalsmith quest was the same way as Resonance described.
But I sure hope another set gets put in somewhere.
