Well, anything having to do with the Silmarillion is out of the game it apperas, due to licensing concerns.

Excellant find Res.
Everything that happens in Middle Earth - everything is because of what happened to those two trees. The ring itself, was due to those two trees indirectly. Everything revolves around it. That, and the fact that Feanor the elf was the most arrogant and pompous living thing to walk the planet. Reading through it, I had forgot that Cirdan the shipwright (Pronounced Keer-dan, The other elf that was standing next to the ship at the end of Return of the king) was actually that old. Makes Elrond and Celeborn look young.

It seems so strange to keep the Simarillion out of LOTRO lore since all of the roots of Middle Earth are based in it. Also some regions of the Anor are mentioned in the Simarillion. Like the great dwarven cities of Belegost and Nogrod were in the blue mountains. It seams like they would be central to any dwarven expansion the developers might want to do in the future. Any dwarf approaching the Blue Mountains would froth at the mouth just at the idea of learning more about their history.
At any rate I think the game developers have done an excellent job so far dancing around Simarillion lore while keeping close to the spirit of Tolkien. The real test will come if they try to expand the games breadth in it’s current geographic location.
I only hope that whoever gets the rights to the Simarillion doesn’t butcher it.

Yeah, it always gets a smile out of me when I see a quest that refereneces something from the Sil. I'd like to see more of that, but not too much more because then it would just be "ho hum another quest referencing the Silmarillion". They are nice little "lore nuggets" though.
