First of all. . . welcome to the Alliance of the North (i heren i formeno) and thank you for visiting us! Vande omentaina! Elen sila lumenn' omentielvo!
This mission statement is open to change in the future.
The sections that you see here are currently what is available to you so that you have the opportunity to communicate with us in our forums. Feel free to register at this site.
The "Alliance of the North" is currently playing on the Elendimir server. We are a group of mature Tolkien friendly RP'ers. Let us discuss for a moment what we mean by that. We enjoy Tolkiens works as a form of self-discovery, and enjoyment. Nothing more or less. We role play, and enjoy doing so within the sphere of Tolkien's lore. But we are not here to quote chapter and verse, or to argue with those who may not have even read the books. We encourage reading them, and those of us who are more versed in Tolkien lore enjoy helping out others who are working on flushing out there own stories in a harmonious manner. We will not berate, or condone those who berate, someone who has not read the books. Let us be clear; we will have none of "What you didn't know that! So and so was from son of so-and-so, from the line of X, so obviously that couldn't appen in 2954, it had to happen in 2968 you noob!". Noo ah ah. On the other hand, we want to work within the sphere of Tolkien lore. We really aren't looking for members who want to be "the long lost step-brother of Aragorn". We are a group of mature Tolkien friendly RP'ers. We do want to be harmonious with Tolkiens lore. We are a roleplaying alliance formed by the many free peoples of Middle Earth, who have come together for a common cause.
That said, we're a pretty RP-casual, or RP friendly group. In our day to day gaming, we don't RP a whole lot.
Let us also state something else. We have never, and will never, look to be 'the biggest and the baddest', so to speak, in terms of size of our group. We have always said we will strive to look for quality members, over a 'quantity' of members.
We are an highly organized and active group, with periodic faction meetings for our membership that will be a requirement to attend. Of course, it is understandable if any members have real life responsibilities that prohibit them from attending. Real life responsibilities always take precedence, but we do encourage member feedback and suggestions to ensure our factions success and growth.
We as a group have participated in many online games over the years, and several things that our faction does not condone are griefing, disruptive, disrespectful or anti-social behavior of any kind. We do not approve or promote any exploitation of any game on the market, ever. In fact, many of us look down on "power-leveling" itself, very strongly. We look both to help others, and for people who are helpful to others regardless of level. This cannot be stated enough. We seek people who look both help others, and for people who are helpful to others regardless of level. We would expect a level 50 to help a level 11 as much as possible.
We ask that our members act in a mature and respectful manner towards other players when they play various online games, regardless of situational difficulties.
Our Kinship hosts and utilizes a Teamspeak Voice Server for real-time chat and communications. We find that this service enables efficient, enhanced and much more enjoyable social experience and community forums. Installation of the client software is a seamless, non-intrusive process. Our group does require that it's participants use Teamspeak. Heck, sometimes we're in TS more than we're in LOTRO. Simply put, not all of our members speak English as their first language, and we're not going to enforce typing on our folks that have been with us since the beginning. We're a quiet group. Sometimes we actually write and work on our RP more out of game, than actually in game. Another reason why we work and collaborate as we do in Teamspeak. But we believe our writing and our work stands on it's own.
Some guilds condone and participate in the process of "spying, infiltrating or belonging" to other kinships. Let us state that we neither condone, nor tolerate this sort of behaviour. Anyone found doing so will be asked to leave this Alliance.
At this time we are accepting new members, as the game is going into open beta testing soon. But let us reiterate. We are not a group that "mass recruits" anyone we see. We want to make sure you'll fit our group. This benefits us, as well as the person being recruited; to make sure they'll be happy. We as a group met in The Matrix Online. However, many of us have participated in many online games over the years and continue to do so. Some people you meet in Teamspeak do not play LOTRO. Yes, there is a WoW channel. There is a Matrix Online channel, and an area for playing City of Heroes. We've grown quite a social fabric. We welcome new ones, but at the same time, we want to integrate any new player into our already existing group.
So how does recruitment work? First, please go to our forums, and register, and throw up a little "Hello" in the Many Meetings section. Then, throw us a tell in game. We'll run with you a bit, as well as give you the instructions for Teamspeak. Feel free to join in the conversation.
After a day or so, if your microphone is all setup? You may expect to see a "noVus invites you to Alliance of the North kinship" come your way.
Again, welcome to our website..

Changes to recruitment policy...
1. We will not accept new members under the age of 21. We’re a mature kinship and do not feel that younger players would mix well in the social setting of Teamspeak with our current group.
2. We will not actively recruit players who are currently in another kinship. If you are unhappy in your current kinship and are interested in joining us, we will consider it under the following conditions:
a. Our Kinship will need to contact your current kinship leader to discuss recruiting you.
b. You will need to leave your kinship and be active in-game with no kinship tag for at least one week and actively participate with our kinship members during that week before we begin the recruitment process
These two conditions are in place to protect out current Kinship members and out of respect for other Kinships and their members.
This mission statement is open to change in the future.
