Hi, all-
I've been trading mail with Resomer in game about joining your Kinship and am now taking the scary, scary step of posting here.
I have a level 38 Man Minstrel. I've pretty much soloed my way through the game, with a very occasional PUG to accomplish some goal or, a few times, just to help someone else out. One of those PUGs happened to include Resomer and, long story short, here I am.
I also have a Hobbit Burglar at level 3 (fear his mighty Rusted Butter Knife!) I obviously don't play him much. But if you ever look down and see a hobbit named Ruddigar trying to stab you in the kneecap, that's me.
Let's see...in real life, I'm a little older than the average gamer (44). Male, live in Charlotte, NC, USA. I've played games online for many years. I started with an online version of AD&D (NOT the mmorpg DDO). I think it was java based, but it's been so long I don't remember. Moved on to Baldurs Gate, which I played online with a group of friends and with those same friends played through BG2 and then Neverwinter Nights. After that group drifted apart, I played on a persistent Neverwinter Nights world for a while, and finally got bored of that.
My very first mmorpg was SWG, which I started playing about 3 or 4 months after it came out. I made it up to Master Bio Engineer and Master Creature Handler, but quit when the CU came out. I rejoined a while later and then about a week after that the NGE came out and both my professions were eliminated. I quit again, and will never play that again.
After that I played WoW for about a year, first as an Undead Warlock, then as an Undead Priest. Both those characters were taken to level 60 (max at the time) and I did some raiding with them. I also had a smattering of other characters which I never leveled all the way up. Got bored of the raiding very fast, always on the lookout for an ever so slightly better set of linen pajamas to prance around in.
After that I bounced around for a long time playing EVE Online, City of Heroes/Villains, Vanguard, Ryzom, probably a couple others I'm forgetting. But none of them really clicked with me. Well, truthfully, I really like Vanguard but got tired of the bugs and lagginess. I'm still subscribed to it though.
So now I'm in LOTRO and having a great time. It's very casual friendly, at least so far. I only have a limited time to play, usually just weekends and once in a while a weeknight.
However, as my quest log is filling up with quests I can't complete solo, and as most PUGs are health bar whack-a-mole nightmares, and I'm approaching the level limit, it seems time to come out of my soloing shell.
RP wise, I'm respectful of it and will rp to my limited ability when appropriate, but I have to be honest and say I'm not the type to sit around Ye Olde Inne discussing the life history of my cousin twice removed, who married the baker and had 3 kids, one of whom fell into shadow but the other 2 are doing fine, and oh did you hear...etc etc. I used to come up with very elaborate backgrounds like that, but lately find myself coming up with a general concept of who my character is and just winging it from then on out.
Well, that's my rather long-winded introduction of myself. If you run across me in game, send me a tell if you want to say hi, or need a minstrel's help for something. I'm extremely laid back and easygoing.
Thanks for listening.
